  • Every person’s body is different, so the number of Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) sessions needed can vary. It depends on your specific condition, how long symptoms have been present, your overall health, and how your body responds to treatment.

Some people notice improvement after just one visit, while others benefit from additional sessions. Rather than following a preset number of treatments, your physician will evaluate your progress at each visit and adjust care based on what your body needs at that time.

When billed to Medicare, each OMT visit must meet Medicare guidelines for medical necessity and is evaluated individually.

  • Follow-up visits are scheduled based on your individual needs and how you are responding to treatment. There is no fixed or guaranteed schedule for OMT.

Your physician will reassess your condition regularly to ensure treatment continues to be appropriate and beneficial. As symptoms improve, visits may be spaced farther apart, adjusted, or discontinued if OMT is no longer medically necessary.

Medicare coverage for OMT is determined on a visit-by-visit basis and requires documented clinical benefit.
